An unhurried evening in Monopoli
16 October 2026

Some holiday plans work better when they fit on one line: go into Monopoli, walk around the harbour, stay for dinner. This is one of those evenings. There is enough to look at without rushing from one stop to the next.
Begin at Porto Vecchio
Monopoli’s old harbour is a useful meeting point and a good place to start a walk. Stop before heading into the streets behind it. Watch the water, take a photograph, and let everyone arrive at the same pace. The municipal visitor information identifies Porto Vecchio as one of the town’s places to visit.
Keep the route short
Follow your interest through the old town rather than trying to follow a long checklist. If you find a square you like, sit down. If you are travelling with children or someone who tires easily, a shorter outing with a proper break is a better plan than a route you feel obliged to finish.
Make dinner part of the evening
Choose around your group: an early meal with children, a table where you have time to talk, or something simple before heading home. Ask Gianni for current suggestions and confirm opening days and reservations directly. This guide does not promise a particular restaurant will be open when you visit.
Plan the return before you leave
The Maresole homes around Capitolo are outside the old town. Agree your return transport before settling into the evening. If you are driving, check current parking information and restricted traffic areas. If you need a taxi, arrange the journey rather than relying on finding one at the last minute.
A home to come back to
Back at Villa Capitolo, the terrace is there for one last conversation. At Il Glicine, the covered outdoor space offers another setting for an evening together. Choose the home you will enjoy returning to as much as the places you plan to visit.
